This salsa is delicious. I left mine a bit thick so we can eat it with our totopos (tortilla chips) without worring to spill it. The morita chillies are delicious, if you can’t find morita chilli you can use chipotle chilli. The flavour will be different as both chillies flavour are different, but you will have a trio of salsas for your party.
Here in UK is quite difficult to find morita chillies, I brought mine from Mexico, so that is why I am giving you another option.

  • A blender

  • 4 Morita chillies
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 1/2 onion
  • 1 small garlic clove
  • 2 tbsp cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • salt to taste

  • Char all the vegetables. Keep the garlic skin on to avoid burning it. Use a frying pan to char them. No need to add oil or anything. Just put the tomatoes, onion and garlic on the hot frying pan and char them until blacken. Peel the garlic before putting it into the blender.
  • Soak the morita chillies in hot water. When they are soft, they are ready to make the salsa. I left mine for 10 min in the hot water.
  • Add all the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.
