Hola, I’m Karla — a Mexican cookery teacher, author, food writer and caterer, originally from beautiful Baja California in northern Mexico, and proudly based in London since 2003.
Before I ever taught people how to make tortillas, I was a secondary school teacher… so teaching is in my DNA! Today, I teach authentic Mexican cooking in a fun, relaxed and hands-on way from my cosy home studio in East Finchley / Hampstead Garden Suburb, where I welcome small groups of up to six people at a time — just enough to cook properly, laugh lots and eat very well.
I also host colourful Mexican supper clubs at my home (yes, it’s decorated in full Mexican style!) for up to twelve guests, and I cater for private and corporate events when you want something truly special on the table.
My cooking is rooted in the recipes I grew up with — the ones you carry in your heart. The dishes that instantly take you back home with the very first bite. In April 2024, I proudly published my first Mexican cookbook, “Norteña“, inspired by my family recipes from the north of Mexico and the memories behind them.
You can, of course, eat Mexican food in a restaurant…
But my food has that little extra something.
That warmth. That soul. That sazón.
(That’s what we call it in Mexico.)
If you love bold flavours, real Mexican cooking and learning in a friendly, relaxed and joyful atmosphere, I would absolutely love to welcome you.
Come and join my Mexican Food Memories adventure — and start cooking Mexican with your heart.
Love & saludos totales,
Karla x
